Log every urinary tract infection (UTI) episode from the past year — treated or self-suspected. Recurrent UTI (rUTI) is generally defined as 2 or more UTIs in 6 months or 3 or more UTIs in 12 months. This matters because the 2025 AUA/CUA/SUFU guideline gives a strong recommendation for vaginal estrogen as first-line, non-antibiotic prevention in peri- and postmenopausal women with recurrent UTIs.
